How it works

How to ZapQuake a defense

  1. Drop the Earthquake Spell(s) first. Each Earthquake removes a percentage of the building’s max HP, so the Lightning that follows has less HP to clear.
  2. Finish with Lightning Spells. Each Lightning deals flat damage; the table shows how many are left after the Earthquake.
  3. Mind diminishing returns. A second Earthquake only deals a third of its rated %, so one Earthquake is usually the efficient pick.
  4. Earthquake now hits heroes too. A recent update lets the Earthquake Spell damage enemy heroes — factor it in when sniping an Archer Queen or King.

How many Lightning Spells do I need to destroy an Air Defense? +
At Town Hall 17 (Lightning L12, Earthquake L7), 3 Lightning Spells alone, or 3 Lightning + 1 Earthquake Spell, destroy a max Air Defense. Use the calculator above for your exact spell levels and Town Hall.
What is a ZapQuake? +
A ZapQuake is the combo of Earthquake Spell(s) followed by Lightning Spells. The Earthquake removes a percentage of a building’s HP first, so fewer Lightning Spells are needed to finish it — the most spell-efficient way to snipe a single defense.
Does the Earthquake Spell work on heroes? +
Yes — a recent update made the Earthquake Spell also damage heroes, not just buildings and walls. The hero table below factors Earthquake into the combo, the same as defenses.
Why do extra Earthquake Spells do less each time? +
Stacked Earthquakes have diminishing returns — each additional quake deals a fraction of its rated percentage (divided by 1, 3, 5 …). One Earthquake is usually the efficient choice; a second rarely saves a Lightning Spell.
